     Elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2022 from Amritsar North Assembly Constituency. Prior to joining politics, served in the Police Department as an IPS Officer (Punjab Cadre) from 1998 to 2021. Started career from the holy City of Amritsar in 1999 as ASP, and had the distinction to serve in Amritsar in every capacity i.e. SP CitySSP Amritsar and DIG Border Range. Resigned from the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) in April 2021, while there was still nine years of service left.  After leaving the job, pursued the legal profession as an Advocate. Posts Held: Served as Police Commissioner of Jalandhar and Ludhiana Cities. Distinctly worked as DIG of Ludhiana Range and Jalandhar Range. As IG STF, acted tough against gangsters and ensured gangster-free Assembly Elections in 2017. Remarkably controlled the menace of gangsters in Punjab as IG STF. Have been spearheading the investigation of Kotkapura & Behbal Kalan firing cases originated from the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Also worked as honorary Co-opted Member of Legal Education Committee of Bar Council of India.  Awards and Recognitions:

  • Award of Vocational Excellence by Rotary Club Amritsar in April 2007 for bringing reforms in policing
  • IVF Award 2006 by India  Vision Foundation (A trust founded by Dr Kiran Bedi) for Prison Reforms

Remained, Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances of Punjab Vidhan Sabha during 2022-23. Presently Member of the Committee on Cooperation and Allied Activities and Committee on Panchayati Raj Institutions of Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the year 2023-24.
